2021 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® Overview

The team at Seacoast Harley-Davidson® serving Rochester Dover Hampton Exeter New Hampshire is thrilled to introduce the new Street Bob® that we now have in stock. Not only are we the best way to test-ride and purchase the Street Bob®, we offer an in-house finance team that can help you get the ideal motorcycle loan, a service center with expert technicians that can keep your Street Bob® running well and customize it and a parts department that can help you personalize your ride in many different ways. For those unfamiliar with it, the Street Bob® traces it lineage back to the post World War II boom. Motorcycles used during the war were abundant and affordable, and riders would often strip them down to make them more practical for civilian use. This gave rise to an entire culture that is very much still alive within the Harley-Davidson® community. In this article, we take a look at metric cruiser that has similar design goals by comparing the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® vs 2022 Kawasaki VULCAN® S.

Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® 114

Harley-Davidson® markets the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® as cloaked in black, stripped down and gritty. The grittiness refers to that old school vibe of the motorcycle and stripped down to the minimalistic design approach. Many riders love that barebones look, but Harley-Davidson® also offers a wide range of products—and adds new products each season—with which you can customize it. Cloaked in black, of course, refers to the designers opting for a blacked-out matte aesthetic. This can be paired with either Vivid Black, Stone Washed White Pearl, Baja Orange or Deadwood Green, and in either case, the Street Bob® 114 features a classic fuel tank design that is absolutely gorgeous. The Street Bob® 114 provides a stretched riding position and is powered by the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 engine.

Kawasaki VULCAN® S

The VULCAN® S is a metric cruiser, which means that it is a motorcycle made by a non-American company but using the blueprint established by Harley-Davidson® and other American brands. Over the years, the VULCAN® S has often seemed so inspired by the H-D® brand that it is often referred to as the Japanese Harley-Davidson®. But this is not just a copycat. Kawasaki adds elements to the 2022 Kawasaki VULCAN® S that are downright futuristic, and even the color schemes available are quite bold. If we had to guess, Kawasaki is trying to appeal to the younger rider who might be lured away from the H-D® brand. One of the aspects we like best about the VULCAN® S is that it boasts an adjustable riding position.

2022 Kawasaki VULCAN® S vs 2021 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob®

Comparing the 2021 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® vs 2022 Kawasaki VULCAN® S reveals that performance is similar on paper. The Street Bob® is smoother in practice. It also gives you the option of stage kits through which you can improve horsepower and torque. The Street Bob® also has what is in our opinion the superior suspension. The VULCAN® S provides a comfortable ride, but it begins to feel less comfortable after an hour so. The Street Bob®, on the other hand, can be ridden for hours on end.

Other factors that set the Street Bob® apart for us are the character, feel and sound. While we appreciate Kawasaki’s willingness to be innovative with the 2022 Kawasaki VULCAN® S design, which much prefer the traditional and iconic Harley-Davidson® design. The Street Bob® drips with character and cool. The VULCAN® S feels much more clinical, and this continues with how the bikes feel and sound. The VULCAN® S is often heralded as a solid bike for new riders, and we certainly do not disagree on that front. However, we believe the Street Bob® to be in the discussion for the best cruiser for new riders period, and you can grow with it too since this is certainly a cruiser that many experience enthusiasts love as well.
